is a holistic remedial body technique that is gentle and relaxing. It works with the body to promote balance, harmony and healing. Treatments are conducted at the clinic, 5 minutes from Castlemaine.

Bowen therapy works on the soft connective tissue (fascia) of the body. It can be used to treat musculoskeletal or related neurological problems including acute and chronic conditions. It is gentle and relaxing and does not use forceful manipulation. This makes it safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly.

Bowen therapy helps the body's own healing resources achieve balance and harmony. This can result in rapid and often long lasting relief from pain and discomfort, often where other modalities and treatments have not been effective. Benefits may be seen and measured after the first session but it is usually advised to have 2-3 sessions to truly cement the healing that takes place.

Bowen therapy can assist a broad range of physical ailments including muscular, structural and visceral (internal) complaints, including:

  • Low, middle or upper back pain or stiffness

  • Neck pain or stiffness, including torticollis and whip lash problems

  • Shoulder or arm pain, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Headaches, migraines, dizziness

  • Sinusitis, eye, ear, nose and throat problems

  • Lower leg, ankle, foot and toe complaints including plantar fasciitis

  • Lymph and circulatory problems

  • Asthma and other respiratory problems

  • Colic in babies

It is especially useful as it can be applied when many other therapies cannot, such as in cases of extreme trauma.

During your treatment, Lisa applies gentle 'rolling' moves on very specific points on muscles, tendons and ligaments. These moves are often applied in special sequences, initiating relaxation of the muscles, flexibility of the fascia and increased circulation of the blood, lymph, and energy. All serve to bring about the often profound results positively affecting many conditions in the body.

At specific times during your treatment, Lisa will allow your body to rest. This is an important part of the treatment. Your body is given time to integrate and respond to the work that has been done and you are able to relax and 'tune in' to your body and feel the shifts that are occurring. Natural medicine, diet or lifestyle suggestions may be offered to enhance the treatment.
